Cable Standing Front Raise Variation
The straight-bar cable front raise with the low pulley at one side: the bar rises past shoulder height and across the body, tilting on the way.
How to do it
Setup
Side-on to a low pulley, a straight bar held overhand at the thighs, arms long, feet hip-width.
Steps
- Raise the bar forward with straight arms to shoulder height.
- Keep lifting up and across to eye level, away from the stack.
- Lower along the same path to the thighs without letting the stack rest.
Common mistakes
Twisting the torso to follow the bar: the hips and chest face forward; only the arms travel. Shrugging as the bar passes the shoulders: keep the neck long and the shoulders down. Bending the elbows to finish the high part: keep them long, or lighten the stack.
Breathing
Exhale on the raise, inhale lowering.
