Bodyweight Single-Leg Deadlift

The single-leg hinge with no load: the arms reach toward the floor as the free leg lifts behind, a balance drill as much as a strength one.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall on one leg, knee soft, the other foot just off the floor, arms hanging.

Steps

  1. Hinge at the hip, hands reaching toward the floor, free leg rising behind.
  2. Stop with the body near horizontal, back flat.
  3. Return to standing by pushing the hip forward; switch legs after the set.

Common mistakes

Standing knee locked straight: keep it soft. Free leg bending and dropping: it stays long, in line with the torso. Losing balance on the way up: slow down and fix the gaze on the floor ahead.

Breathing

Inhale hinging, exhale standing.
