Battling Ropes Outside Circle

Trace circles with both rope ends the other way round, the hands parting outward at the top and meeting low in front; the outward path puts more of the work on the sides of the shoulders.

How to do it

Setup

Athletic stance facing the anchor, a rope end in each hand, knees soft, hands together low in front.

Steps

  1. Circle both arms up and outward, hands parting wide above shoulder height.
  2. Bring them down and in to meet low in front and close each circle.
  3. Keep the circles big and continuous.

Common mistakes

Arms bending into small circles: long arms, big circles. Shrugging with the lift: shoulders down and away from the ears. Losing the stance as you tire: knees soft, weight over the feet.

Breathing

Steady with the rhythm.
