Battling Ropes Inside Circle

Trace circles with both rope ends, the hands traveling up and in toward each other and then down and out; the circle takes the shoulders through a rounder path than plain waves.

How to do it

Setup

Athletic stance facing the anchor, a rope end in each hand, knees soft, arms in front.

Steps

  1. Circle both arms up and inward so the hands pass close together in front of the face.
  2. Carry them down and out to the sides to finish each circle.
  3. Keep the ropes spiraling without a pause between circles.

Common mistakes

Circles shrinking to wrist flicks: the whole arm draws the circle. Leaning back to lift the ropes: stay over the feet, knees soft. Holding the breath: breathe with the rhythm.

Breathing

Steady with the rhythm.
