Devil Press

A dumbbell burpee that ends in a double dumbbell snatch: from the floor the bells swing between the legs and up to lockout overhead in one movement.

How to do it

Setup

Two dumbbells on the floor shoulder-width; stand over them.

Steps

  1. Grip the dumbbells, kick the feet back to a plank on them and do a push-up.
  2. Jump the feet in and hinge, both bells swinging between the legs.
  3. Drive the hips through and swing the bells up in one arc to lockout overhead.
  4. Lower the bells to the floor under control; that is one rep.

Common mistakes

Arm-lifting the bells from the hinge: the hip snap sends them up, the arms finish. Bells swinging away from the body: keep the arc tight. Soft lockout overhead: both arms straight before they come down.

Breathing

Inhale at the bottom, sharp exhale through the snatch.
