Kettlebell Clean and Jerk
The clean and jerk with a kettlebell in each hand: both bells cleaned to the rack together, then jerked overhead and brought back down.
How to do it
Setup
Feet a little wider than the hips, a kettlebell in each hand between the legs, hinged at the hips, back flat.
Steps
- Swing the bells back and drive the hips to clean both into the rack.
- Dip at the knees and drive the bells overhead, locking the arms.
- Lower them to the rack, then down between the legs for the next clean.
Common mistakes
Pressing the bells up with the arms: the dip and the leg drive send them overhead. Bells crashing onto the forearms in the clean: pull them in close and let them turn over softly. Arching the lower back at lockout: ribs down, the bells stacked over the heels.
Breathing
Exhale on the clean and again on the drive; breathe in the rack.
