Battling Ropes High Waves

Waves thrown high: the hands lift to about head height on each wave, sending tall waves along the ropes.

How to do it

Setup

Athletic stance facing the anchor, knees bent, a rope end in each hand at the hips.

Steps

  1. Lift the hands to about head height to start a tall wave.
  2. Drive them back down to the hips, keeping the knees bent.
  3. Keep the waves tall and steady; log the time.

Common mistakes

Standing up straight as the arms rise: stay low in the knees. Arms rising only to the chest: the high reach is the variant. Leaning back against the ropes: stay over the feet, chest tall.

Breathing

Rhythmic with the waves; recover in the rests.
