Battling Ropes Alternate Arms Squat

Alternating waves with the ropes while squatting down and standing up; the waves keep a steady rhythm through the whole squat.

How to do it

Setup

Standing facing the anchor, a rope end in each hand at the hips, feet shoulder-width.

Steps

  1. Start alternating waves, one arm lifting as the other drops.
  2. Squat down and stand back up while the waves keep going.
  3. Stop the set when the waves lose their height; log the time.

Common mistakes

Waves shrinking as the squat deepens: the arms work just as hard at the bottom. Rounding the back in the squat: chest up, back flat. Rising onto the toes: keep the heels down.

Breathing

Rhythmic with the waves; recover in the rests.
