Barbell Strict Curl
The barbell curl with the back, the hips and the heels against a wall; the wall takes away every lean and swing.
How to do it
Setup
Standing with the back, the hips and the heels against a wall, bar at the thighs, underhand grip at shoulder width.
Steps
- Curl the bar to the upper chest without leaving the wall.
- Keep the elbows at the sides; they cannot go back.
- Lower slowly to straight arms.
Common mistakes
Shoulders peeling off the wall at the top: stop the curl there. Heels stepping away from the wall: keep them against it. A weight you can only lift by leaning: go lighter than for your usual curl.
Breathing
Exhale on the curl, inhale lowering.
