Barbell Biceps Curl (With Arm Blaster)

The barbell curl with the elbows parked on an arm blaster; the plate stops the elbows drifting forward and keeps the hips from starting the rep.

How to do it

Setup

Arm blaster over the neck, backs of the upper arms on the plate, bar at the thighs in a shoulder-width underhand grip.

Steps

  1. Curl the bar to the upper chest, elbows on the plate.
  2. Hold the top for a beat.
  3. Lower to straight arms along the plate.

Common mistakes

Heaving with the lower back: the blaster cannot stop a lean; take a lighter bar. Wrists curling in at the top: keep them in line with the forearms. Plate slipping to one side: center it before every set.

Breathing

Exhale on the curl, inhale lowering.
