Barbell Standing Wrist Curl

Stand holding the bar at arm's length in front of the thighs, palms facing forward, and curl it up with the wrists alone.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall, bar in front of the thighs, underhand grip at hip width, arms long.

Steps

  1. Curl the bar forward and up using only the wrists.
  2. Keep the elbows locked and the shoulders still.
  3. Lower until the bar touches the thighs again.

Common mistakes

Bending the elbows: that turns it into a biceps curl; keep the arms straight. Rocking the hips to swing the bar: stand still. Bar bouncing off the thighs: touch lightly and go again.

Breathing

Exhale on the curl, inhale lowering.
