Barbell Knee Raise Step-Up

The barbell step-up finished by driving the trailing knee up to hip height instead of setting that foot down; the standing leg holds the balance at the top.

How to do it

Setup

Bar on the upper back, facing a low step, the working foot flat on it.

Steps

  1. Stand up on the step through the front leg.
  2. Drive the other knee up to hip height and hold it for a beat.
  3. Lower that foot back to the floor and step down.

Common mistakes

Swinging the knee up with momentum: lift it under control and pause. Bar tilting as you balance on one leg: brace and keep it level. Leaning back at the top: stack the shoulders over the standing hip.

Breathing

Exhale stepping up, inhale down.
