Barbell Elevated Heel Clean-Grip Squat
The front squat in a clean grip with the heels raised on a wedge; the lift under the heels lets the knees travel far forward and the torso stay upright.
How to do it
Setup
Heels raised on a slant board, bar in the front rack with the fingertips under it, elbows high.
Steps
- Sit straight down between the heels, knees far forward.
- Drive the elbows up to keep the bar on the shoulders.
- Stand up without the elbows dropping.
Common mistakes
Elbows dropping at the bottom: the bar rolls forward; lead up with them. Heels hanging off the board's edge: the whole heel sits on the slope. Knees caving as they travel forward: push them out over the toes.
Breathing
Inhale down, exhale up.
