Barbell Jefferson Squat
A squat straddling the bar, one hand in front of the body and one behind; the bar hangs between the legs.
How to do it
Setup
Straddling the bar, feet wide, toes slightly out, one hand in front and one behind.
Steps
- Squat down and grip the bar, back flat.
- Stand, keeping the bar centered between the legs.
- Lower under control; swap the front hand next set.
Common mistakes
Hips twisting toward the front hand: stay square to the bar. Bar touching the thighs: set the stance wide enough to clear it. Rounding to reach the bar: sit lower instead.
Breathing
Inhale down, exhale driving up.
