Barbell Front Rack Lunge

The forward lunge with the bar resting across the front of the shoulders, elbows high as in a front squat.

How to do it

Setup

Bar racked on the front delts, fingertips under it, elbows high; feet hip-width.

Steps

  1. Step long, back knee toward the floor.
  2. Hold the elbows high and the torso tall.
  3. Push back to the start, elbows still high.

Common mistakes

Elbows sagging: the bar rolls toward the fingers and pulls you forward; lift them. Wobbling on the step: slow down and plant the foot before you drop. Front heel lifting: land heel first.

Breathing

Inhale stepping in, exhale pushing back.
