Barbell Front Raise, illustrated

How to do it

Setup

Bar at the thighs, overhand grip shoulder-width, stand tall.

Steps

  1. Raise the straight arms to shoulder height.
  2. Hold a beat.
  3. Lower with control to the thighs.

Common mistakes

Rocking the hips to start: dead stop at the thighs. Bar rising past shoulders: level is the target. Wrists dropping: knuckles forward, straight line.

Breathing

Exhale on the raise, inhale lowering.
