Band Straight Back Stiff-Leg Deadlift
The stiff-leg deadlift standing on a band with handles, hinging only as far as the back stays flat; the band is lightest at the bottom and pulls hardest as you stand.
How to do it
Setup
Standing on the middle of the band, feet hip-width, a handle in each hand, knees nearly straight.
Steps
- Push the hips back and hinge, chest open, until the back is nearly level with the floor.
- Keep the back flat; the hands stop where it would round.
- Squeeze the glutes and stand tall against the band.
Common mistakes
Rounding to reach the feet: the flat back sets the depth. Knees bending as fatigue sets in: keep them nearly straight. Letting the band snap you down: control the hinge.
Breathing
Inhale hinging, exhale standing.
