Band Deadlift

Stand on the band and pull the handles to the hips; resistance grows as you rise, so the lockout is the hardest part.

Band Deadlift, illustrated

How to do it

Setup

Stand on the band, handles at the shins in a hinge, back flat.

Steps

  1. Drive up – hips and chest together.
  2. Finish tall against the band's peak.
  3. Hinge back down resisting the pull.

Common mistakes

Band too light at the top: double it or widen the stance; lockout should FIGHT. Rounding at the bottom: flat back each rep. Snap-down negatives: resist.

Breathing

Exhale driving up, inhale hinging down.
