Alternating Dead Hang
A dead hang passed from one straight arm to the other; each grip holds the whole body in turn.
How to do it
Setup
Hanging from a pull-up bar on straight arms, hands shoulder-width, feet off the floor.
Steps
- Let go with one hand and hang on the other, that shoulder drawn down.
- Take the bar again and switch to the other arm.
- Keep swapping without swinging, and come down while the grip still holds.
Common mistakes
Hanging on a loose shoulder: draw it down away from the ear. Twisting and swinging on one arm: switch slowly and keep the body still. Letting go when the grip is spent: come down while both hands can still catch.
Breathing
Slow and steady throughout.
