90 to 90 Stretch
Seated with both knees at right angles, one shin in front and one out to the side, hinge over the front shin until the front hip stretches.
How to do it
Setup
Seated on the floor, the front shin across in front, the back knee bent to 90° out to the side.
Steps
- Sit tall on both sit bones, hands on the floor if needed.
- Hinge forward over the front shin, chest leading, until the hip stretches.
- Hold and breathe, then sit up and turn the legs to the other side.
Common mistakes
Rounding the back over the shin: the fold comes from the hips, chest forward. Tipping onto one hip: both sit bones stay down, a block under the front hip if needed. Forcing the knees to the floor: they may float; the lean does the stretching.
Breathing
Slow and even through the hold.
