45-Degree Side Bend
Side-on in the 45° back-extension bench, lower the torso toward the floor and lift it back with the upper side's obliques.
How to do it
Setup
Side-on in the 45° bench, hip on the pad, feet locked one in front of the other, hands at the temples.
Steps
- Lower the torso sideways toward the floor.
- Lift it back until it lines up with the legs.
- Finish the set, then turn over to the other side.
Common mistakes
Rolling the chest toward the floor: stay side-on; the bend is purely sideways. Dropping into the bottom: lower as slowly as you lift. Pad under the waist: set it below the hip bone so the waist is free to bend.
Breathing
Exhale lifting, inhale lowering.
