Wrap Around Shoulder Stretch
Hugging yourself, the hands pull on the backs of the shoulders; the shoulder blades spread and the upper back lengthens.
How to do it
Setup
Standing tall, arms wrapped across the chest, each hand on the back of the opposite shoulder.
Steps
- Draw on the shoulders with the hands so the blades slide apart.
- Let the upper back widen and the chin drop slightly.
- Hold and breathe, then switch which arm is on top.
Common mistakes
Hunching the shoulders up to the ears: keep them low as the hands pull. Rounding the lower back too: the curve stays between the blades. Yanking on the shoulders: a steady pull, felt across the upper back.
Breathing
Slow and even through the hold.
