World's Greatest Stretch
A lunge with the elbow dropped to the front instep, then the arm swept up as the chest turns open; hips, groin and upper back in one move.
How to do it
Setup
Standing tall, feet hip-width, arms at the sides.
Steps
- Lunge long and plant the hand opposite the front leg on the floor.
- Drop the other elbow toward the front instep.
- Sweep that arm up to the ceiling, turning the chest open.
- Return the hand, step back to standing and switch sides.
Common mistakes
Back leg sagging: keep it long, hip pressed forward. Rushing the turn: pause with the arm up, eyes on the hand. Front knee caving as the elbow drops: keep it over the foot.
Breathing
Exhale as the elbow drops, inhale opening up.
