Lizard Pose

A low lunge with both hands inside the front foot and the chest dropping toward the floor; the back hip's flexors and the front leg's groin stretch.

How to do it

Setup

Low lunge, both hands inside the front foot, the back leg long, its knee down or lifted.

Steps

  1. Let the front knee open slightly outward over the little toe.
  2. Lower onto the forearms if the hips allow, chest reaching forward.
  3. Hold and breathe, then come back up onto the hands and switch legs.

Common mistakes

Dropping to the forearms before the hips open: stay on the hands or on a block. Front knee collapsing inward: let it open over the little toe. Back hip sagging to the floor: press the back heel away and keep the hips level.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
