Warming-Up in Lunge (Four)

The runner's lunge held on both hands, the back leg straight with the knee off the floor from the start, stretching the back hip and calf.

How to do it

Setup

Deep lunge, hands on the floor inside the front foot, back leg straight on the ball of the foot, knee off the floor.

Steps

  1. Press the back heel away and lengthen the back leg.
  2. Let the hips sink toward the floor.
  3. Hold and breathe, then switch legs.

Common mistakes

Back knee sagging to the floor: press through the back heel to keep it up. Rounding the back over the front thigh: lengthen the chest forward. Front heel lifting: step the foot further forward.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
