Wide-Legged Forward Bend Prasarita Padottanasana
From a wide stance, fold all the way forward with the hands on the floor between the feet and the crown of the head reaching toward the floor.
How to do it
Setup
Feet wide and parallel, hands on the hips, legs straight.
Steps
- Hinge forward from the hips and place the hands on the floor under the shoulders.
- Bend the elbows back and lower the crown toward the floor between the hands.
- Hold and breathe, then come up with a flat back and step the feet in.
Common mistakes
Weight sinking into the head: the legs and the hands hold it; the crown only reaches. Feet turned out: keep them parallel. Rushing up out of the fold: rise with a flat back, hands on the hips.
Breathing
Slow and even through the hold.
