Seated Wide Angle Pose Sequence

Seated in a wide straddle, turn the chest to one leg and fold over it with both hands reaching for the foot, come back to the middle and fold over the other; the backs and insides of the legs stretch in turn.

How to do it

Setup

Seated tall with the straight legs spread wide, toes up, hands on the thighs.

Steps

  1. Turn the chest toward one leg and fold over it, both hands reaching for the foot.
  2. Hold and breathe, then rise back to the middle.
  3. Fold over the other leg the same way.

Common mistakes

Rounding the back to reach the foot: fold from the hips and take the shin if the foot is too far. Knees rolling in or bending: kneecaps up, legs long but soft. Pelvis tipping back as you fold: raise the hips on a folded mat.

Breathing

Lengthen on the inhale, fold on the exhale.
