Seated Knee Flexor and Hip Adductor Stretch

Seated in a wide straddle, the trunk hinges forward from the hips with a flat back; the hamstrings and inner thighs stretch together.

How to do it

Setup

Seated tall, legs spread wide and straight, toes up, hands on the floor in front.

Steps

  1. Hinge forward from the hips, keeping the back flat.
  2. Walk the hands a little forward until the backs and insides of the thighs stretch.
  3. Hold and breathe, then walk the hands back and sit up.

Common mistakes

Rounding the back to reach further: the hinge comes from the hips; stop where the back would round. Toes and knees rolling inward: keep them pointing up. Bouncing forward: ease in and hold.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
