Warrior III Pose
Balanced on one straight leg, the torso and the other leg tip forward into one line level with the floor, the arms reaching ahead; held for time.
How to do it
Setup
Standing on one leg, the other foot a step behind on its toes, arms reaching overhead or forward.
Steps
- Hinge forward from the standing hip as the back leg lifts straight behind.
- Level the hips and reach the arms and the back heel away from each other, and hold.
- Lower the back foot and stand up slowly, then switch legs.
Common mistakes
Lifted hip rolling open toward the ceiling: point the lifted toes at the floor, hips level. Standing knee locked hard: keep a slight bend. Tipping past level to go lower: stop where the line is flat, fingertips on a block or a wall if the balance wavers.
Breathing
Slow and even through the hold.
