Kettlebell Dead Clean

The kettlebell clean from a dead stop on the floor every rep, with no swing; the hips alone bring the bell to the rack.

How to do it

Setup

Bell on the floor between the feet, hinged with a flat back, one hand on the handle, the other arm free.

Steps

  1. Drive the hips through and pull the bell up close to the body.
  2. Rotate the hand around the handle and let the bell land softly in the rack.
  3. Hinge to set the bell back on the floor; switch hands after the set.

Common mistakes

Bell banging the forearm: rotate the hand early and keep the bell close. Lifting with the arm: the hips send it, the arm guides. Rounding to set it down: hinge back to the floor with a flat back.

Breathing

Exhale on the clean, inhale setting it down.
