Two-Handed Hang Back Stretch (with Training Wall Bars)
Facing the wall bars with both hands on a high rung and the knees bent, the body hangs back on straight arms; the lats and the sides of the back lengthen.
How to do it
Setup
Facing the wall bars, both hands on a rung above the head, feet on the floor or a low rung, knees bent.
Steps
- Let the hips sink back until the arms are straight.
- Relax the shoulders so the body's weight lengthens the sides of the back.
- Hold and breathe, then stand up before letting go.
Common mistakes
Pulling with the arms: they only hold; let the weight hang. Rung too low to straighten the arms: take a higher one. Letting go while hanging back: stand up first, then release.
Breathing
Slow and even through the hold.
