Stick Lying Front Raise

The lying front raise with a light stick: a slow drill for the path of the arms, thighs to straight up.

How to do it

Setup

Lying on a flat bench, stick resting on the thighs, hands shoulder-width apart.

Steps

  1. Raise the stick with straight arms until they point up.
  2. Move slowly, keeping the stick level.
  3. Lower it back to the thighs under control.

Common mistakes

Rushing the reps: the drill is slow on purpose; take each arc to a steady count. Stick tilting to one side: both hands rise together. Elbows bending: long arms through the whole path.

Breathing

Exhale on the raise, inhale lowering.
