Stepback Pulldown
Reach both arms overhead, then pull the elbows down to the ribs as one foot steps back; step in as the arms reach up again.
How to do it
Setup
Standing tall, arms reaching overhead, feet hip-width.
Steps
- Pull the elbows down to the ribs as one foot steps back.
- Squeeze the shoulder blades down and together.
- Step in and reach up again; alternate the stepping foot.
Common mistakes
Pulling with the hands alone: lead with the elbows toward the ribs. Arching the back as the arms go up: ribs down, reach straight up. Rushing the step back: tap it down under control.
Breathing
Exhale pulling down, inhale reaching up.
