Standing Wheel Rollout

The ab wheel rollout from standing: fold down to the wheel at the feet and roll out on straight legs until the body is almost flat, then pull back up.

How to do it

Setup

Standing, feet hip-width, folded forward with the hands on the wheel's handles in front of the feet.

Steps

  1. Roll the wheel out, the hips lowering as the arms reach forward.
  2. Stop just above the floor with the trunk rigid.
  3. Pull the wheel back toward the feet, the hips rising into the fold.

Common mistakes

Trying it before the kneeling rollout is easy: this loads the abs far harder; build up from the knees. Lower back sagging near the floor: stop higher. Bending the knees to get back up: keep the legs straight and pull with the abs.

Breathing

Inhale rolling out, exhale pulling back.
