Standing Leg Up Adductor Stretch

Standing upright with one straight leg resting out to the side on a low stool; the inner thigh of the raised leg stretches without leaning over it.

How to do it

Setup

Side-on to a low stool, one straight leg out to the side with the heel on it, hands on the hips.

Steps

  1. Stand tall on the supporting leg, its toes forward.
  2. Shift the hips a little away from the stool until the raised leg's inner thigh stretches.
  3. Hold and breathe; step the leg down before switching sides.

Common mistakes

Support too high for the hips: pick a height where both legs stay straight. Standing knee bending: keep it straight but soft. Leaning over the raised leg: that is the deeper box version; here the trunk stays upright.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
