Standing Isometric Hold Calf Raise

Rise onto the toes and stay there: the standing calf raise held at the top for time, with no reps.

How to do it

Setup

Feet hip-width on the floor, arms at the sides, eyes on a fixed point.

Steps

  1. Rise onto the toes to full height.
  2. Hold still, legs straight; time it.
  3. Lower the heels slowly when time is up.

Common mistakes

Heels sinking as the calves tire: stay at full height or end the set. Swaying for balance: brace the trunk and keep the eyes still. Holding the breath: breathe steadily through the hold.

Breathing

Steady throughout; never held.
