Squatting Achilles Stretch

In a deep squat with the feet together and heels down, lean forward over the knees; the lower calves and the Achilles stretch.

How to do it

Setup

Feet together, heels down, squatting deep, fingertips on the floor in front.

Steps

  1. Shift the weight forward until the knees travel past the toes.
  2. Keep both heels pressed to the floor.
  3. Hold and breathe, then stand up slowly.

Common mistakes

Heels lifting: ease back until they stay down. Leaning the weight onto the hands: they only steady you; the legs carry it. Bouncing the knees forward: lean in slowly and wait for the stretch.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
