Sled Lying Calf Press

The calf press lying flat on the back, legs straight toward a vertical foot plate that the ankles push away.

How to do it

Setup

Lying on the bench, hands on the handles by the head, the balls of the feet on the plate.

Steps

  1. Push the plate away by pointing both feet.
  2. Squeeze the calves at full extension.
  3. Let the stack draw the feet back into a stretch.

Common mistakes

Knees softening to shift the plate: legs straight, ankles working. Hips sliding up the bench: hold the handles to stay put. Whole feet on the plate: only the balls, so the heels travel.

Breathing

Exhale pressing, inhale returning.
