Skiing, illustrated

How to do it

Setup

Gear fitted, bindings checked, terrain matching your level.

Steps

  1. Ski with the knees soft and the weight forward on the boots.
  2. Turn with the legs, torso quiet toward the valley.
  3. Log the day by time.

Common mistakes

Sitting back: the ski tips wander; shins press the boot tongues. Turning with the shoulders: legs steer. Last runs on dead legs: most falls live there; end one run early.

Breathing

Steady; recover on the lifts.
