Single-Leg Heel Touch Squat

The skater squat with a deeper fold: as the back knee drops toward the floor, both hands reach down to touch the heel of the standing foot.

How to do it

Setup

Standing on one leg, the other knee bent so its foot is off the floor behind, arms by the sides.

Steps

  1. Sink on the standing leg, folding forward as the back knee drops toward the floor.
  2. Reach both hands down to touch the standing heel.
  3. Drive through the standing foot back to the top, then switch legs.

Common mistakes

Back knee crashing onto the floor: stop just above it or let it only brush. Standing knee caving inward: keep it over the middle toes. Standing heel lifting as you reach: sit back so the whole foot stays down.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale up.
