Single Heel Drop Calf Stretch

One foot's ball on the edge of a step, its heel sinks below the step with the knee straight until the calf stretches; held for time.

How to do it

Setup

One foot's ball on the back edge of a step, the other foot flat, a hand on a rail.

Steps

  1. Keep the working knee straight.
  2. Let the heel sink slowly below the step until the calf stretches.
  3. Hold and breathe, then switch legs.

Common mistakes

Bouncing the heel at the bottom: sink slowly and stay. Bending the working knee: keep it straight for the calf. Only the toes on the edge: set the whole ball of the foot on the step so it cannot slip.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
