Calves Stretch
On a staircase, the back foot's heel drops off the edge of its step with the knee straight while the front foot stands one step higher.
How to do it
Setup
Facing up the stairs, back foot's ball on a step's edge, front foot one step higher, hands on the front thigh.
Steps
- Lower the back heel below the edge of the step.
- Keep the back knee straight and the chest up.
- Hold and breathe, then switch legs.
Common mistakes
Back knee softening: keep it straight so the stretch stays high in the calf. Back foot angled across the step: point it straight up the stairs. Chest folding over the front knee: stay upright and let the heel do the sinking.
Breathing
Slow and even through the hold.
