Side Plank Leg Raise

The side plank on a straight arm with the top leg raised and lowered through the hold; the hand under the shoulder instead of the forearm.

How to do it

Setup

Side plank on the hand, the arm straight under the shoulder, feet stacked, hips lifted into one line, free hand on the hip.

Steps

  1. Raise the straight top leg as high as the hips stay level.
  2. Lower it to the bottom leg without resting.
  3. Keep lifting until the time is up, then switch sides.

Common mistakes

Hips dropping as the leg lifts: push the lower hip up first. Bending the supporting elbow: keep the arm straight, the shoulder over the wrist. Leg swinging forward: raise it in line with the body.

Breathing

Steady throughout; never held.
