Side Hip (On Parallel Bars)
In the captain's chair, the bent knees rise toward one side of the chest and lower, then toward the other.
How to do it
Setup
Forearms on the pads, back against the rest, knees together and legs hanging.
Steps
- Raise the knees up and toward one shoulder.
- Lower them to hanging without a swing.
- Raise them toward the other shoulder next rep.
Common mistakes
Twisting the shoulders instead of the hips: the upper body stays square. Swinging between reps: stop the legs at the bottom. Knees stopping low: bring them above the hips.
Breathing
Exhale on the raise, inhale lowering.
