Side Bridge with Bent Leg

On one forearm and the bent bottom knee, lift the hips into a straight line and lower them again, the top leg long; the side bridge as reps on a shorter lever.

How to do it

Setup

Lying on one side on the forearm, elbow under the shoulder, bottom knee bent behind, top leg straight, top hand on the hip.

Steps

  1. Push the hips up until the trunk and the top leg form one line.
  2. Hold the top for a beat.
  3. Lower the hips until they nearly touch; switch sides after the set.

Common mistakes

Top knee dropping forward onto the floor: keep the top leg long and in line. Chest rolling toward the floor: stack the shoulders over the elbow. Hips only half lifting: finish each rep with a straight trunk.

Breathing

Exhale lifting the hips, inhale lowering.
