Semi Squat Jump

The jump squat from a half squat instead of a full one: a quick shallow dip and a straight jump, rep after rep.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall, feet hip-width, arms hanging at the sides.

Steps

  1. Dip into a half squat, hips back, hands toward the knees.
  2. Jump straight up, the body long in the air.
  3. Land softly on the balls of the feet and sink straight into the next dip.

Common mistakes

Sinking to a full squat: this is the half-depth jump; keep the dip short. Landing on locked knees: bend them as the feet touch. Knees caving on the landing: push them out over the toes.

Breathing

Exhale on the jump, inhale landing.
