Seated Rotation Stretch

Sitting cross-legged, one hand on the opposite knee and the other on the floor behind, turn the chest to one side, then the other.

How to do it

Setup

Sitting tall cross-legged on the floor, hands resting on the knees.

Steps

  1. Place one hand on the opposite knee and the other on the floor behind you.
  2. Turn the chest and head toward the back hand.
  3. Come back through the middle and switch hands to turn the other way.

Common mistakes

Slouching into the turn: sit up tall before each twist. Yanking on the knee for range: turn only as far as the spine goes by itself. Hips shifting off center: keep both sit bones down.

Breathing

Exhale on each twist, inhale through the middle.
