Seated Overhead Triceps Extension on a Chair
The unloaded overhead extension seated on a chair: the clasped hands rise from behind the head to straight arms and return; the seat keeps the back from arching.
How to do it
Setup
Seated tall on a chair, feet flat, hands clasped behind the head, elbows up.
Steps
- Extend the arms to lift the clasped hands straight overhead.
- Hold the upper arms close to the head.
- Lower the hands behind the head again.
Common mistakes
Slumping in the chair: sit tall so the arms can reach straight up. Elbows splaying out to the sides: keep them close to the head. Half reps: finish each one with straight arms.
Breathing
Inhale lowering, exhale extending.
