Saw
Sitting with the legs wide, twist and reach the opposite hand past one little toe while the back arm reaches away; a Pilates twist and stretch.
How to do it
Setup
Sitting tall, legs straight and a little wider than the hips, feet flexed, arms out at shoulder height.
Steps
- Twist the trunk toward one leg, both sit bones staying down.
- Round forward, the front hand sawing past the little toe.
- Roll back up, untwist and repeat to the other side.
Common mistakes
One hip lifting as you twist: both sit bones stay anchored. Leading with the arms: turn from the middle and let the arms follow. Knees locked hard: soften them if the hamstrings stop the fold.
Breathing
Inhale into the twist, exhale sawing forward.
