Roman Chair Sit-Up
Seated on a Roman chair with the feet hooked, lower the torso back to about level and sit up again; the raised seat lets the hips hinge freely.
How to do it
Setup
On the Roman chair's seat, thighs supported, ankles hooked under the pads, arms crossed on the chest.
Steps
- Lean back with a long spine until the torso is about level.
- Curl and sit back up to upright.
- Pause tall, then lean back again with control.
Common mistakes
Dropping far below level from the first set: stop at level until the lower back is used to it. Yanking up with the arms: they stay crossed. Hips sliding off the seat: sit back so the thighs stay supported.
Breathing
Inhale leaning back, exhale sitting up.
